2019: Causing Criminal Mischief

As 2019 lurches forward, I continue for my full time job hunt in the game industry. While I have been “officially” unemployed, I have been doing freelance work since I’ve graduated, and have continued to improve on my portfolio.

This includes my personal passion project, Criminal Mischief, which has been taking shape for over a year now. It’s a retro inspired RC racing game, and as of now, I’m one major mechanical system away from a playable release. I’ve set a realistic goal for myself. Pre-Alpha Demo by summer 2019. I’m doing it.

I want nothing more than to get my vertical slice ready to show publishers, because I want this more than anything right now. If studios won’t take me seriously, then I’ll just have to step up myself, and show them I’m fully capable of carrying a passion project from start to finish.

What is that major gameplay mechanic missing from my game at the moment? Well it’s the power-up system of course! This couldn’t be a love letter to RE-Volt and Rumble Racing without a tack pick-ups to blast at opponents. This will probably be one of my most major hurtles because it involves a lot of programming I have not done heavily enough. That being said, I programmed a vehicle controller and stunt system by myself using a mish-mash of tutorials, so I think I can very well do this.

Without Further delay, here is the little quick teaser trailer. Thank you Jackson for the music!
